Decor by Areté is the seasonal porch-styling studio of Areté Float + Wellness, 213 E. Braxton Foushee St, Carrboro, NC 27510. This page explains what information we collect on decorbyarete.com, why, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

• When you reserve a porch: your name, email, mobile number, street address, town and ZIP; the package, palette, extras and install week you choose; notes about steps, pets, HOA rules or access; an optional photo of your porch; how you heard about us; and your agreement to our Customer Agreement (the version, the time, and the name you type to sign).
• When you pay a deposit: payment is handled entirely by Stripe on Stripe’s secure checkout page. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe shares with us your name, email, the amount, and the order number.
• When you join the winter list: your first name, email, town (optional), what you’d like decorated, and any note.
• Automatically: like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) to keep the site running and secure. We don’t use advertising trackers, and we don’t sell data. The site saves your in-progress porch choices in your own browser so a refresh doesn’t lose them; that information stays on your device.

How we use it

• To review, schedule, install and (if you add it) remove your porch, and to text or email you about it.
• To take your deposit and balance, keep records, and prevent fraud.
• To check how far your address is from our studio, so we can offer instant booking nearby and quote travel farther out.
• To send you a confirmation email, and, if you joined the winter list, to tell you when winter décor opens. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
• To photograph completed installations as described in Section 11 of our Customer Agreement, with house numbers and other identifying details removed before anything is shared.

Who helps us

We share information only with the services we use to run the business, and only what each one needs:

• Netlify: hosts the website and stores reservation and winter-list submissions.
• Stripe: processes deposit and balance payments.
• Resend: sends order alerts to Jen and confirmation emails to you.
• U.S. Census Bureau geocoder and OpenStreetMap: turn the street address you enter into a map location so we can measure the distance from the studio.
• EmailOctopus: manages our winter mailing list, if you join it.

We don’t sell or rent your personal information. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our customers, our team or our business.

How long we keep it

We keep reservation and payment records for as long as we need them to provide your service and meet tax and accounting requirements. Winter-list details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to be removed from our mailing list, by emailing Jen@floatarete.com or calling or texting 919-636-9899. We’ll respond within a reasonable time. Some records (such as payment records) may need to be kept for legal reasons.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-certified payment provider. Access to your information is limited to the people who need it to serve you. No method of sending or storing data online is completely secure, but we take reasonable care to protect it.

Children

Our services are for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top.
